Ryan has a strong background in sketch and stand-up comedy. He has worked in film, television, print, radio and live theatre in various roles.

A founding member of Montreal’s Rubber Chicken Factory sketch comedy troupe and the production company Waiter By Day, Ryan has helped write, produce and perform in several original live revues, created original digital media and developed a pilot for a radio series.

He has an M.F.A. in Writing (Screen) from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, a Masters degree in Film and Television Production from Bond University in Australia and a B.A. in Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.

Ryan teaches in the Department of New Media at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada. His first web series "Dollar Cinema," about a young Indo-Canadian woman who inherits her uncle's struggling movie theatre is out now and his second web series, "Mon Oeil," a French language production with the Cinemagine Society of Alberta is also available.
